Sailplane Pilot Licence (SPL)
Sailplane Pilot Licence (Gliders) – the basic course for future glider pilots.
Start with us from the age of 14 and feel the freedom of the air. Basic training takes only 2 months – we focus on an intensive, effective programme.
What you will learn
Aerotow launch training
You learn to launch behind a tow plane - the method used at most European airfields. Safe, stable and universal.
Dual and solo flights
You gain experience in the air with an instructor and gradually move on to solo flights. A moment you never forget.
Accuracy, thermals and cross-country
You learn precision landings, master the art of using rising air currents and complete your first cross-country glider flight.
Modern fleet
Training takes place on Puchacz and Junior gliders - comfortable, modern and fully suited to learning and development.
How the training works
Complete the theory course
A solid grasp of theory is a key condition before you can start flight training. At this stage a medical examination is not yet required. We recommend the e-learning course at the Avioner aviation school, delivered online.

Get your aviation medical
To continue flight training you need a positive opinion from an aeromedical examiner. Pilots starting gliding training need at least a Class 2 aviation medical.

Apply to the Cloud Elite training centre
Once you have the certificate of completed theory training and a valid aeromedical certificate, apply to the Cloud Elite Flight Training Centre. On site we sign the agreement and set the start date of your practical training.
Complete the tasks and collect your licence
Basic training covers at least 35 aerotow flights, including 5 solo. The next stage is a minimum of 15 hours total flight time (including 2 hours solo) and a cross-country flight - solo over at least 50 km or dual over at least 100 km. Obtaining the licence also requires passing the state theory and practical exams.
